Their last major piece of silverware came with Coppa Italia glory in 2001, but they were relegated to the fourth tier of Italian soccer in 2002 after going bankrupt.

Fiorentina has already tasted defeat in a major final this season, as they were edged out by Inter Milan in the Coppa Italia just a few weeks ago.
