Event Preview
The Tour de France is often an event that stands out on the sporting calendar, as there is nothing else like the race. It covers a grueling 3,404km, which is made up of 21 stages. The race will start in Bilbao, Spain, before traveling across the French mountains and reaching its final stop in the heart of the French capital. The 21 stages are spread across 23 days, with races alternating between clockwise and counter-clockwise circuits in France.
21 stages. 21 battles. It begins Saturday.

All stages are timed, with the winning rider declared based on the quickest finishing time to complete all 21 stages. A number of previous winners will be involved once again this year, including the reigning champion, Jonas Vingegaard. The Danish rider finished the event in a stunning time of 79h 32’ 29” last year, which was the quickest finishing time in history.

The Dane has already been in excellent form this year, as he has won stages at the Criterium du Dauphine and Tour of the Basque Country. The latter could set him up perfectly for the opening stage in Bilbao this year. However, he will be rivaled by a familiar foe in the form of Tadej Pogacar. The two relentlessly battled throughout a number of stages in 2023, with the Sane eventually coming out on top.

However, it could be difficult to overlook the two-time Tour de France winner this year, as he looks to regain the Yellow Jersey. The Slovenian won the event in back-to-back years in 2020 and 2021, and the 24-year-old has warmed up for the event with victories in the National Road Race Championships and National Time Trail Championships.
Tour de France Prediction
The betting highlights that this looks likely to be a two-man race in 2023, and there is very little to separate Pogacar and Vingegaard. However, the preference is for the former, as we like his chances of regaining the Yellow Jersey in 2023.
