Pick rationale
Analysis & key factors
First place in the AFC North is on the line at Acrisure Stadium, with the Browns and Steelers both sitting at 5-2. Pittsburgh has won three straight behind one of the NFL’s best defenses, while Cleveland keeps finding ways to win close games despite a negative point differential.

Game Preview
Cleveland Browns
The Browns are one of the stranger 5-2 teams you’ll see. Cleveland has a negative point differential, and Deshaun Watson has thrown just 7 touchdown passes against 3 interceptions. The numbers don’t scream contender, but the results keep coming, largely because Watson has been at his best late in games. He has already led four game-winning touchdown drives this season.
The defense deserves just as much credit. Outside of a 34-point outing against the Jaguars, Cleveland has been stingy, and it has made stops when it matters most. For bettors, that profile usually means tight, low-scoring games where the result comes down to the final possession.
Pittsburgh Steelers
Pittsburgh comes in on a three-game winning streak, starting with a home win over the Colts before road victories over the Buccaneers (26-19) and the Saints (16-10) in Paris. The defense has been the foundation, allowing just 19.7 points per game, fifth-best in the NFL.
The ground game has given the offense a lift as well. Jaylen Warren has broken out with 561 rushing yards on 102 carries through seven weeks, a strong 5.5 yards per carry. That should give Pittsburgh a way to control the clock against a Cleveland defense that has been tough to throw on.
Browns vs. Steelers Predictions
With two top defenses and first place in the division at stake, this sets up as a grind. Pittsburgh allows just 19.7 points per game and has won three straight, while Cleveland’s offense relies on late Watson heroics more than consistent production, with just 7 TD passes and 3 interceptions on the season.
That’s why I’m backing the Steelers. The moneyline is the safer play, as the Browns live in close games, but Pittsburgh’s defense gives -3.5 a real chance too. With both defenses this strong and points hard to come by, the under 38.5 is the total play.
- Best bet: Steelers moneyline (-185)
- Browns vs Steelers spread pick: Steelers -3.5
- Browns vs Steelers over/under pick: Under 38.5 (-110)
