Game Preview
San Diego had their 3-game winning streak snapped on Tuesday, after blowing a late-game lead. They entered the 8th inning leading 5-4, but allowed the Diamondbacks to score 4 runs in the top of the 8th. Relief pitcher Luis Garcia was responsible, giving up 4 earned runs and recording just 1 out before being pulled. Manny Machado was also ejected from the game. The Padres need to get back on track in Atlanta.

The Braves picked up their 3rd straight win, completing the sweep of the Cardinals in St. Louis. A 5-1 start in 6 road games has Atlanta entering their home opener looking like one of the best teams in the MLB. If they can stay healthy this season, the Braves will be extremely dangerous. They’ll look to maintain the momentum built against the Cardinals into this series against another 2022 NL playoff team in the Padres.

Prediction
Both the Padres and Braves are very competitive teams that have a chance of making the World Series this season. Matched up against each other, they rank pretty evenly, but there are some key aspects to focus on in this game. In addition to home-field advantage, the Braves have Spencer Strider on the mound, who pitched 6 shutout innings in his first start. He should get the win over a struggling Blake Snell.
