Colorado lost their 8th game in a row on Wednesday, falling to 5-14 on the season. After a decent 5-6 start against a handful of tougher teams, the Rockies have fully collapsed, getting swept by the Mariners and Pirates in their last two series’. They have been outscored 64-24 during their 8-game losing streak, which is an average score of 8-3. Colorado needs to bounce back and get a few wins before it’s too late.
The Phillies have underperformed so far this season, after making the World Series last year. They started the season out 4-9, but have begun to heat up a bit, going 4-2 in their last 6 games, all on the road. Philadelphia will have a chance to build some real momentum and climb back up the standings here, with their next 7 games coming at home against the 5-14 Rockies and 8-11 Mariners. They need to capitalize.
Prediction
The Rockies have lost 8 straight games, making them statistically due for a win. It’s unlikely it’ll happen in this game, though, with their matchup coming on the road against a Phillies team that has been heating up lately. On the mound for Colorado will be a shaky Ryan Feltner (8.78 ERA). He’ll need to overcome the consistent Matt Strahm (2.13 ERA) in order to get the win, which I don’t see happening. I’ll take the Phillies.
