Finishing their home stand 3-3 was a disappointing result after the first sweep, but the Mets need to focus on their upcoming road trip, especially on with this crucial series against Atlanta up next. With games against the Yankees and Astros also coming up, the Mets need to start winning soon.
The Braves earned a crucial series win against the Diamondbacks in Arizona over the weekend. It could be exactly what they needed to bounce back from the 8-12 stretch they were on leading into that series. Fortunately for the Braves, the other teams in their division have also gone backwards. This series against the Mets provides a great opportunity for Atlanta to both extend their division lead and get back on track.

This has been a stellar rivalry over the past few seasons, especially last year, when both teams finished with 101 wins. This year, it seems as though Atlanta has once again extended the talent gap between the two teams. The Mets face an uphill battle on the road in this series. For this first game, they’ll have Carlos Carrasco (5.74 ERA) on the mound against Atlanta’s Bryce Elder (1.92 ERA). I’m taking the Braves to win it.
