Match Preview

A thrilling edition of the Women’s World Cup continues on Tuesday, as the first place in the final will be determined. Spain continued their excellent form with a dramatic 2-1 win over the Netherlands on Friday morning, with their winning effort being scored in the 111th minute. It is the first time that they have reached the World Cup last four, and only the second time that they have reached the semi-final stage at a major tournament.

Spain could make history if they make the final, as they will become only the second team to have lost a group stage match by four or more goals to make the final. The Spanish have also won each of their previous two knockout stage matches against European opposition at the World Cup.

Sweden and Spain will be clashing for the first time at the Women’s World Cup, but the Swedes were 1-0 winners in the only previous encounter between the sides at a major tournament. Their 1-0 win was recorded in the group stages at the 1997 EUROs. This will be Sweden’s fifth appearance in the last four.

They reached the final in 2003, but they lost at this stage in each of the tournaments in 1991, 2011, and 2019. Defeat against Spain would see them become the first nation to lose four times at the semi-final stage at the Women’s World Cup.

Spain vs Sweden Prediction

Sweden produced their best performance in the tournament against Japan in the previous round. However, we picked Spain to win the competition before the start of the Women’s World Cup, and therefore, we will be siding with them to make the final this week.
