Not only is Usman Nurmagomedov (17-0) the Bellator Lightweight champion, but many believe he’s one of the best 155-pound fighters in the world. He’s got some detractors as well, who claim that he got the shot at the Bellator MMA title due to nepotism.
They think the Usman hype started because he’s a cousin of legendary UFC champ Khabib Nurmagomedov, as well as a close friend and training partner of the current UFC Lightweight champ, Islam Makhachev. On top of everything, he also has two-time UFC Heavyweight champ Cain Velasquez as his cornerman.
He’s got connections, but he also has skills. Usman proved how good he was in the title fight against Patricky Pitbull, whom he dominated throughout the five rounds before winning by unanimous decision. In his first title defense, Nurmagomedov beat Benson Henderson by a first-round submission.
Now, he’s ready to showcase his skills once again. This time, he’s fighting grappling maestro Brent Primus, who used to be the lightweight champ of Bellator MMA in 2017. However, at the age of 38, he just doesn’t seem capable of doing anything against Usman.
