The Spanish star was excellent in Dubai once again last year, as he finished two shots clear of Alex Noren and Tyrrell Hatton. Rahm comes into the weekend in excellent recent form, having finished four in the BMW PGA Championship, before finishing in a tie for ninth at the Open de Espana.

Rory McIlroy is another former multiple winner of the event, with his most recent success coming back in 2015. The Northern Irishman has enjoyed yet another strong season, and he comes into the weekend after finishing in the top ten in all but two of his appearances on the European Tour this season. He also landed victory in the Dubai Desert Classic in early 2023.

We could see a first-time champion being crowned this weekend. Therefore, the preference is for Viktor Hovland to land victory. The Norwegian was the winner of the BMW Championship earlier in the year, and backed that success up with a further victory in the Tour Championship. He could once again reign supreme in Dubai in 2023.
