Newcastle and Tottenham will both have their sights set on a European finish this term, meaning that this weekend’s showdown will offer an insightful look at both competitors. The Magpies will have home advantage against Spurs on Sunday, but they come into this showdown after being held to a draw in their most recent outing against Bournemouth last Sunday.

Tottenham opened their season with a draw at Leicester, but they quickly put that disappointment behind them to gain maximum points in their second match of the season last Saturday. Spurs were at their dominant best against Everton, with Heung Min Son netting a brace to get off the mark for the season. A second straight win on Sunday could see Spurs go into the international break inside of the top four.

Newcastle have recorded victories in each of their last two home matches against Spurs. That includes a dominant 4-0 win in the previous clash between the sides at St. James’ Park. Tottenham’s latest win at Newcastle was achieved in October 2021, but that remains their only away win against the Magpies in their last four visits.
