Women’s Cincinnati Open Contenders

Aryna Sabalenka

It has been a largely frustrating season for Aryna Sabalenka, as the number one ranked player in the world has consistently come up short in Grand Slams. However, she is the two-time defending US Open champion, and previously won the Cincinnati Open back in 2024.

Sabalenka has already dominated on the hard courts in the U.S. this year, winning the Indian Wells Open and the Miami Open. Her record on the surface is staggering, going 28-3 in 2026. Worthy favorite.

Elena Rybakina

Elena Rybakina continues to play at a very high level in 2026, and she will be rightly among the leading contenders when making Cincinnati Open picks. She landed success at the Australian Open at the start of the season, and reached the final at Indian Wells.

Rybakina’s power game is perfectly suited to hard courts, reflected by her 71% win rate on the surface. Her chances are only enhanced after she made it through to the semi-finals of the Cincinnati Open last year.

Jessica Pegula

Jessica Pegula may be the outstanding American chance at the Cincinnati Open in 2026. She has excelled on hard courts over the last couple of seasons, reaching the US Open final in 2024, and progressing through to the final four at each of the last two Grand Slams on the surface.

Her prowess on the hard courts has already been visible this year after runs to the quarterfinals at Indian Wells and the Miami Open. It is also notable that she is enjoying her best season to date, winning 78% of their matches.

Women’s Cincinnati Open Picks

Sabalenka is the one to beat at the Cincinnati Open this year, but she will be an incredibly short price to win the title. Therefore, at bigger odds, Iva Jovic could be a notable player worth considering.

The American has achieved a standout year on the WTA Tour in 2026, highlighted by a run to the quarterfinals at the Australian Open. She has already shown her quality at the Cincinnati Open, reaching the third round on debut last year.

Further progress is expected on her preferred surface at the end of the season, and her route through the tournament should be easier after being handed the 13th seed.
