Event Preview
The Formula 1 action pauses after this weekend, as the summer break finally gives drivers a chance to recharge. However, before then, we have the small matter of the Belgian Grand Prix to look forward to. This race was first staged in 1925, and has taken place at the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps since 1983. Michael Schumacher holds the record for most race wins with six, while Ferrari has recorded 18 wins.
Drivers will complete a total of 44 laps this weekend to cover the 308.052km race distance. A total of 19 corners will be completed by the field, with two DRS Detection zones located in the opening two sectors to help overtaking. The lap record is held by Valtteri Bottas, who completed one circuit in 1:46.286 in 2018.

Max Verstappen was simply unstoppable in Hungary 💪

It has been pure domination by Red Bull so far this season, as the team made history in Hungary by landing a 12th consecutive victory. Max Verstappen landed a seventh straight win, as he extended his championship lead over teammate Sergio Perez to 90 points. The Dutchman’s chances of victory this weekend are certainly aided by the fact that he has won the Belgian Grand Prix in each of the last two years.
Sergio Perez enjoyed a much better weekend in Hungary, as he battled back from a poor qualifying effort to take third. It was yet another strong weekend from McLaren, as Lando Norris sealed a second consecutive runner-up finish. Oscar Piastri may have performed better had his tires not have faded away in the closing stages.
Mercedes, Ferrari, and Aston Martin will all face pressure this weekend, as the McLaren has looked much quicker in the previous two races. But, there is little doubt that Mercedes boasts a competitive car, especially in the latter stages where the machine comes alive when riding with limited fuel on board.
Belgian Grand Prix Prediction
We expect this weekend to follow a very similar pattern to the race in Hungary. We fully expect Verstappen to race away from the field, with McLaren and Mercedes battling for places on the podium. However, we could see Oscar Piastri landing a first podium finish in his F1 career.
