Game Preview
Seattle lost 1-0 against the Phillies on Wednesday, struggling to produce on offense. Catcher Tom Murphy accounted for the starting lineup’s only two hits, with pinch hitter Tommy La Stella picking up the team’s third and final hit of the game. The Mariners futile offensive performance wasted a great game by George Kirby, who gave up just 1 run and 5 baserunners in 8 IP. They’ll look to bounce back against the Blue Jays.

Suarez double & Teoscar Hernandez with the laser to left. HUGE HOMER!
4-1 Mariners ‼️ https://t.co/vYsfvRE1XO
The Blue Jays have now won 4 straight games, outscoring their opponents 25-3 in that span. They flipped their run differential from -7 to +14 in that stretch, continuing to climb the standings. They still have much work to do in a tough AL East, where they currently sit in 3rd place at 16-9. Toronto is aiming to return to the playoffs for the 3rd time in the last 4 years, still seeking their first World Series appearance since 1993.

Prediction
The Blue Jays have been scorching hot lately, which it makes it difficult to bet against them, but also makes them due for a lackluster performance. If that’s going to happen at all, it could certainly come against the Mariners’ ace in Luis Castillo (1.52 ERA). Meanwhile, Toronto will be starting an inconsistent Alek Manoah (5.13 ERA). I see Seattle earning a very solid road win here, but eventually losing the series.
