New York had a really rough go in Monday’s game against the Brewers, falling 10-0. Starting pitcher Carlos Carrasco was hit hard right from the start, giving up 5 earned runs in 4 innings pitched. Reliever Tommy Hunter didn’t fare much better, allowing 5 runs of his own in 2 innings. The Mets offense was also blanked in the loss, striking out 9 times and only managing to earn 3 hits. They need to bounce back in this game.
The Brewers continued their hot start against the Mets. After taking 2 out of 3 against the Cubs in Chicago, they kept their foot on the gas in their home opener. Starting pitcher Freddy Peralta had a great first start, pitching 6 shutout innings with 7 K’s. New faces in the batting lineup made a huge impact. Brian Anderson, from the Marlins, and rookie Brice Turang both went 2 for 3 with a HR, combining for 7 RBIs.
Prediction
After dominating the Mets on Monday, it’s hard to imagine the Brewers losing on Tuesday. That being said, that’s just the way the MLB goes, with teams completely changing performances on a daily basis. Even so, the Brewers have started red-hot, and the Mets are no strangers to early season struggles. I don’t expect another 10-0 blowout, but I see Milwaukee coming away with another win over the Mets in this game.
