Game Preview
Cincinnati had a couple of games postponed due to inclement weather, before resuming action on Friday. They came up short against the Phillies in that game, losing their 2nd in a row, and falling to 3-3 after their surprising 3-1 start. The Reds are in danger of falling into an extended losing streak and need to return to their winning ways soon. C Tyler Stephenson has had a stellar start, hitting .364 from the plate thus far.
The Phillies have had a rough start to the season. After being swept by the Rangers, they lost 2 out of the 3 against the Yankees. Fortunately, they got a solid win in their home opener, and face 5 more home games ahead of them, followed by 4 more games against the Reds. This is the perfect opportunity for a Philadelphia team that won the NL last season to start heating up and climbing back up the standings.
Prediction
This should be a very even matchup between these two teams. The Reds started off the season stronger than the Phillies, but had the advantage of playing their first two series at home, while Philadelphia played theirs on the road. With the destinations now flipped, the Phillies have the home-field advantage. Even so, I’ve been impressed by Cincinnati’s ability on offense thus far. After losing Friday, I see them winning here.
