Game Preview
New York came up short against the Orioles on Friday, dropping to 4-3 on the season. They now sit in a 3-way tie for 2nd place in the division, with only 1 game separating them from last place. The Yankees have had some trouble with their starting rotation outside of ace Gerrit Cole. With Luis Severino remaining out due to injury, the relied again on the young Clark Schmidt, who has posted a 9.45 ERA in two starts so far.
The Orioles continued their strong start with a win against the Yankees. They jumped out to an early lead, but nearly allowed New York to climb back into the game. Fortunately, they were able to close out the win, improving to 4-3 on the season. Baltimore has very high hopes for this season after exceeding expectations by a considerable amount last year. They’ll look to continue their climb with another win here.

Baltimore won the previous matchup between these two teams, and has the home field advantage. That should give them a good chance of winning, but it won’t be a guarantee. The Yankees hard-hitting lineup makes it hard to beat them two times in a row, and they’ll have Nestor Cortes Jr. (1.80 ERA) on the mound against Cole Irvin (13.50 ERA). I see the Yankees bouncing back and evening out the series with a win.
