Fight Preview
Mackenzie Dern looked really great in her last fight, in which she completely dominated Angela Hill, winning by unanimous decision in the end.
In that fight, we saw Dern land 126 significant strikes – her highest number since joining the UFC in 2018. One of the punches she landed knocked down her opponent, but she did manage to get up. Mackenzie also made three takedowns in that fight, which is the highest number of TDs in her UFC career.

Now, she’s facing Jessica Andrade who’s 24-12 overall, which isn’t too bad. However, the former UFC two-division champ is on a three-fight losing skid, with each of those losses happening within the first seven minutes.
Two of those happened by submission, which is something that needs to worry her ahead of the duel with Dern. Andrade is a hell of a grappler, who’s got a black belt in BJJ, but the thing is that Dern is just better.
Dern is the daughter of legendary BJJ practitioner Wellington “Megaton” Dias under whose tutelage she earned the 3rd degree black belt in this grappling-focused martial art.
Before starting her MMA career, she won numerous medals in submission grappling, including gold at the World Jiu-Jitsu Championship and the World Cup.

Mackenzie Dern just needs to take the fight to the ground and it’s all over for Jessica Andrade. However, will she be able to do it? The thing is that Andrade has a takedown defense of 70% and she lands 6.68 significant strikes.
It won’t be easy, but we have faith in Dern. In the fight with Angela Hill, she showed everyone that she’s as tough as it gets, which is why we’re confident she’ll be able to handle Andrade’s barrage of strikes and take the fight to the floor, where she’s going to finish her by submission.
