Preview

Kansas City clinched the AFC West with their win over the Bengals. It marked the 8th consecutive season that the Chiefs finished on top of their division. They are locked into the 3-seed in the AFC, and will host whichever team finishes as the 6-seed in the Wild Card round. Patrick Mahomes is tough to beat in the playoffs, but Kansas City still needs to bounce back after going 4-5 over the second half of the season.

The Chargers collapsed down the stretch, going 1-7 in their last 8 games, after a 4-4 start to the year. They finally moved on from head coach Brandon Staley, giving fans some optimism as Los Angeles looks to end the season on a positive. They have a talented roster, but the window is closing for players such as Keenan Allen, Austin Ekeler, and Joey Bosa. They’ll focus on getting healthy for another run this offseason.

Prediction

With the Chiefs locked into the 3-seed in the AFC, and the Chargers eliminated from playoff contention, neither of these teams has much to play for here. Both will undoubtedly still be playing their hardest to knock off a division rival, but key players could rest for Kansas City in this game. That makes it tougher to predict the outcome. Even with their starters out, the Chiefs should still have the edge over Los Angeles.
