Analysis & key factors

  • NFL Comeback Player of the Year Odds highlight three names.
  • Joe Burrow is the reigning winner, and that’s his second trophy.
  • Five of the last six winners were quarterbacks.

Everyone loves a good comeback. That’s why this award generates so much hype and is one of the favorites for both players and fans.

Before you start reading, here are the odds for all NFL awards.

NFL Comeback Player of the Year Odds

PlayerOdds
Aidan Hutchinson+300
Christian McCaffrey+350
Dak Prescott+375
Trevor Lawrence+700
JJ McCarthy+800
Rashee Rice+1400
Maxx Crosby+2000

Hutchinson and McCaffrey Lead the Way

Detroit Lions’ DE and the former 2nd pick, fractured his fibula and tibia last season in Week 6, missing the remainder of the campaign. He was on pace to produce his best career stats, and is surely eager to pick up where he left off.

On the other hand, we don’t need to emphasize how important CMC was to the 49ers. He is one of the most versatile offensive players of the last two decades, and his numbers are simply not realistic. His ligament injury caused him to end the season without a single touchdown, a year after he won the NFL Offensive Player of the Year award.

Dak’s and Trevor’s Soulsearching

These two guys are in limbo right now. If they have good seasons, they will be elite once again. But if they don’t, they just might sink into mediocrity. Prescott got the fluke label when it comes to playoffs, while Lawrence might be one of the biggest busts in the Jags’ history if he fails to deliver now.

Both had terrible seasons last year and are expected to show up and bounce back in the 2025 NFL campaign.

McCarthy, Rice, Crosby, maybe Diggs

One by one, names like JJ McCarthy, Rashee Rice, and Maxx Crosby are on the NFL Comeback Player of the Year contenders list. There’s one name that stands out in our opinion, and that’s Stefon Diggs. He is in New England now, eager to step on the field following his ACL tear in the previous season.
