The start of the new calendar year has brought fresh hope for the Chicago Blackhawks. They come into this week following an excellent run of form, which has seen them land victories in their last four. No team in the Western Conference is currently enjoying a longer winning sequence.
The Blackhawks sit fifth in the Central Division, and they have a level overall record of 18-18-7 at this stage. Chicago produced a fine offensive display in their latest outing, beating the St. Louis Blues 7-3 on Wednesday.
Home form has been a big strength for the team this season, going 10-8-4 at the United Center. Connor Bedard has been a standout performer for the Blackhawks, accumulating 44 points in 2025-26.
This clash could be an important one for the Washington Capitals, as they bid to get their season back on track after going 3-5-2 across their last ten. The Caps currently sit fourth in the Metropolitan Division, and they still have an overall winning record in the NHL.
But, a better display will be required based on their performance against the Dallas Stars earlier this week. The Caps were well beaten in Washington, losing 4-1, with Alexander Ovechkin netting the team’s only goal.
Performances on the road have been mixed so far this season, and that is reflected by their overall road record, which reads 9-8-3.
