Game Preview
The Washington Capitals have enjoyed a solid enough start to the new NHL season after winning five of their opening seven games. However, due to the competitive nature of the Metropolitan Division, they only sit fourth in the current standings.
The Caps will be aiming to build on a recent win in the NHL after overcoming the Seattle Kraken earlier this week. Washington raced into a 3-0 lead after the first two periods, before seeing out the win impressively. Nic Dowd and Jakob Chychrun were among the scorers.
The Columbus Blue Jackets will also be appeased with their start to the new season, despite sitting second bottom in the competitive Metropolitan Division. They have gone 3-3-0 across their opening six games, but they have hit form after winning their last two.
Their attacking players sparkled in a recent 5-1 win over the Dallas Stars. Columbus scored twice in the opening period, before adding three further efforts in the final frame. Adam Fantilli and Boone Jenner both scored and assisted in the dominant win.
