Game Preview
The long wait for a first win of the season ended the Philadelphia Flyers on Monday, as they managed to break a two-game losing sequence. It was a welcome return to form for the home team this week, and it eased the pressure on the coach slightly.
It was a much-improved performance by the Flyers in their recent win, as they hammered the Stanley Cup champions, the Florida Panthers, 5-2 on home ice. Sean Courturier netted twice in the win, while the same player also ended the night with two assists.
It has been a more professional start to the season for Scott Arniel’s Winnipeg Jets. The Canadian team sit fourth in the Central Division standings after winning each of their last two since an opening night loss against the Dallas Stars.
Last time out, the Jets showcased their excellent offensive quality, as they recorded a 5-2 win over the New York Islanders. Logan Stanley, Morgan Barron, and Nino Niederreiter all scored efforts in the comfortable win on the road earlier this week.
