The biggest weekend of the season at Colonial Downs is set for Saturday, as a spot at the Breeders’ Cup later this year will be up for grabs in the G1 Arlington Million. Arlington Million: Betting Preview
High-quality action on the turf is set for Colonial Downs this weekend, as the G1 Arlington Million features a high-class field. A purse of $1 million is up for grabs in the richest race to be staged in Virginia, and cases can be made for plenty of the runners involved.
Burnham Square always promised to be a high-class performer on the turf, and the son of Liam’s Map has progressed excellently this season with three wins in stakes company. He was excellent when holding off Chapman’s Peak in the Chorleywood Stakes last month, and he gets a nice pull at the weights over many rivals on Saturday.
Fort Washington won this race 12 months ago, and he could become just the second horse to win the Arlington Million on two occasions. He has looked below that standard so far in 2026, most recently finishing seventh in the G2 Wise Dan.
Integration was a very disappointing odds-on favorite in the Arlington Million last year, but positives can be drawn from his fifth in the G1 Manhattan Stakes in June. Should be capable of going well after running an excellent second in the Arlington Million in 2024.
Dresden Row is one of the most unexposed horses in this field for trainer Todd Pletcher. After winning on back-to-back starts, he was an eye-catching third in the G2 Wise Dan; finishing ahead of Fort Washington. Mercante should be capable of better again after finishing within a length of the winner in the Wise Dan.
Arlington Million Picks
At the prices, Test Score looks like a value play for the Graham Motion team. The four-year-old was an excellent winner of the G1 Pegasus World Cup Turf earlier this year, and wasn’t beaten far by Deterministic in the G1 Manhattan Stakes. A hot pace will play to his strengths this weekend, and Manuel Franco is once again booked to take the ride.
