Beverly D. Stakes: Betting Preview

A starting berth in this year’s Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf will be up for grabs at Colonial Downs on Saturday, as a big field of 12 runners go to post in the G2 Beverly D. Stakes.

Stellify will be narrowly preferred in the betting on her seasonal reappearance for the Brad Cox yard. She was hugely progressive last season, racking up four straight victories before finishing seventh in the Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf.

Gimme a Nother should also be very competitive on these terms for the in-form Graham Motion team. She has been a reliable performer since moving to the United States, which included a standout win in the G3 Eatontown Stakes on her reappearance in June.

Mark Casse-trained Achieve is one of the most exciting younger fillies in this field, with the Justify filly stepping into graded company for the first time on Saturday after racking up three wins from as many starts in 2026.

Crevalle d’Oro is also worth noting for the Jose Francisco D’Angelo yard. The five-year-old has little to find on official ratings, as a one-time winner in stakes company. She will relish this step back up in distance after finishing a close second behind Lush Lips over a mile in the G3 Honey Fox in February.

Beverly D. Stakes Picks

This is a wide-open race on Saturday, and it could be worth overlooking some of the leading chances as they will need to contend with layoffs. Therefore, Amelia Green-trained Storm Miami should have a big run in her. The five-year-old has been eye-catchingly beaten on her last two starts, finishing under a length behind the winners at Belmont at the Big A and Delaware over longer trips. John Velazquez’s booking is a major positive, and she’ll be overlooked in the betting at double-digit odds.
