Fight Preview
Both Petr Yan and Deiveson Figueiredo are former UFC champs, but Figgy did it in the weight class below. However, since moving to the UFC bantamweight division, he’s 3-0 with wins over Rob Font (decision), Cody Garbrandt (submission), and Marlon Vera (decision).
Can he add Petr Yan to the list? We’re not so sure about that as the Russian fighter is an elite bantamweight who’s eager to make himself relevant again in the title conversation.
He’s 17-5 with four losses by decision and one by disqualification. This happened in the title fight against Aljo Sterling, in which he used banned knee kicks.
Since then, he’s 2-3, with two of those losses happening by a split decision – against Sterling and Suga O’Malley. He also lost to Merab Dvalishvili unanimously. In his most recent fight, though, Yan beat Song Yadong by unanimous decision.
