Jets vs. Lions Odds
Game Preview
New York Jets (1-1) hit the road after blowing a 10-point fourth-quarter lead in a 20-17 OT defeat against the Green Bay Packers in Week 2. Why? Because of penalties, with the Jets committing 13 of them for 156 yards.
Geno Smith didn’t throw an interception, throwing for one TD and 247 yards. However, the Jets had no ground game, producing just 67 rushing yards. Breece Hall had 16 runs for 29 yards, or 1.8 yards per carry.
Lions (1-1) return home eager to reset after a high-scoring 41-31 loss to the Buffalo Bills on Thursday Night Football. Yes, we do realize that the Bills have Josh Allen, the reigning NFL MVP, but still, once again we saw that the Lions’ defense is pretty mediocre.
On the other hand, the passing offense is steaming on all cylinders. Jared Goff threw for 4 touchdowns and 327 yards, but he suffered 4 sacks. Amon-Ra St. Brown had 142 receiving yards and 2 scores, yet the runners weren’t in the mood. One of the league’s best running backs, Jahmyr Gibbs, had only 52 yards on the ground on 16 reps.
Jets vs. Lions Predictions
Jets have a better defense, but their offense isn’t as consistent as Detroit’s. Solely because of that, we are backing the hosts to win and cover the spread. Goff has too many offensive weapons and the home-field edge to routinely handle these rivals.
