Match Preview

Argentina will be looking to continue their dominant period of success on the international stage this weekend when they come up against Colombia in the Copa America final. The South American nation is reigning champions in the tournament, having won the 2021 edition of the Copa America. Meanwhile, they are also the reigning world champions after winning the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Argentina have been at their dominant best throughout the Copa America this summer, winning all but one of their matches inside 90 minutes. Their place in the showpiece match was assured in midweek after landing a comfortable 2-0 win over Canada. Lionel Messi opened his account for the tournament by netting the second goal in that success.

Colombia will be the outsiders in the betting to win the Copa America this weekend, but their record deserves plenty of respect. They have avoided defeat in all internationals that they have played over the last 12 months, and they have continued that sequence after going five without defeat in the Copa America this summer.

Their best performance to date came in the semi-final stage, as they battled to a 1-0 success against Uruguay. Despite playing with ten men for the entirety of the second half, they restricted an in-form rival to limited chances. However, their record against Argentina is poor after winning just once in the last ten clashes.

Argentina vs Colombia Prediction

Colombia’s excellent record deserves plenty of respect, and they are a very strong defensive side. Therefore, we could see a cagey draw being played out in 90 minutes, with Colombia winning the Copa America on penalties.
