There will be huge pressure on Pep Guardiola’s Man City this weekend, as they bid to get their championship fight back on track following a 0-0 draw at Sunderland on New Year’s Day. City will still feel confident of pegging back Arsenal at the summit, and they have already shown that they are capable of putting together a long sequence of victories.
Man City have been dominant at the Etihad Stadium throughout the season, winning each of their last eight. Meanwhile, they have scored at least three goals in seven fixtures over that period, which includes achieving the feat in each of the last three.
It has been all change at Chelsea this week, as Enzo Maresca was fired in midweek, just months after guiding the club to success in the Europa Conference League and FIFA Club World Cup. However, the poor form of the team since the start of December has been detrimental to last season’s progress.
Chelsea have recorded wins in just one of their last seven league fixtures. However, it could be worth noting that they have suffered just two defeats over that period. On the road, Chelsea have been slightly more reliable this term, indicated by the fact that they have dropped 13 of their 15 points from winning positions at Stamford Bridge.
