There could yet be light at the end of the tunnel for Man United this season, as Ruben Amorim’s side remain in contention for Europa League glory. The Red Devils produced one of their most memorable nights in Europe in the previous round of the competition after recording a staggering 5-4 win against Lyon after extra time.
United had led 2-0 in the match at Old Trafford, before they found themselves 4-2 down in extra time. However, efforts from Bruno Fernandes, Kobbie Mainoo and Harry Maguire in the final six minutes of extra time sent the Theatre of Dreams into a frenzy. It was also the first time in European history that five goals had been scored in extra time.

Bilbao will remain the favorites to progress, and they will be boosted by the fact that they will have home field advantage should they reach the Europa League final. It was a more straightforward quarterfinal showdown for the Spanish side, as they eased to a 2-0 aggregate success against Rangers.

Bilbao will be playing in their first semi-final in a major European competition since 2011-12. Interestingly, in that season, the Spanish side eliminated Man United on their route to the final four.
