A tense second leg in Rome is set for this Thursday in the Europa League, as Roma and FC Porto look to force their way into the next round of the competition. It was a missed opportunity for Porto in the first leg between the sides last week, as they could only salvage a draw in the final half an hour following Francisco Moura’s equalizer.

Roma appeared to be on their way to a famous win on the road following Mehmet Zeki Celik’s goal in first-half injury time. This will be the first meeting between the sides in Rome since the hosts recorded a 2-1 success in February 2019. Porto’s overall record against Roma is a plus. The Portuguese side have suffered just one defeat in their last seven matches against their Italian opponents, and have won on three occasions across that period.

However, Roma boast a very strong home record in Europe. The Italian club have won 13 of their last 13 matches at the Stadio Olimpico in the Europa League. They have also won five from six under Claudio Ranieri.

Porto have only gained progression in three of their last nine ties after playing out a draw in their home first leg. However, one of their few wins was achieved in their latest tie against Eintracht Frankfurt.
