Championship side Portsmouth will have the important home field advantage when they host Arsenal in the third round of the FA Cup on Sunday. Pompey bring reliable form into this clash after losing just once in their last five matches. However, keeping clean sheets have been an issue for the team throughout the campaign.
That is reflected by the fact that Portsmouth have allowed 1.46 goals per game. Scoring goals has also been an issue, netting just 0.88 goals per game. However, the club have a strong reputation in the FA Cup, winning the competition in 2008 and reaching the final two years later in 2010.
Arsenal remain in contention for four major honors this season. Mikel Arteta’s side sit six points clear at the top of the Premier League standings, but they struggled offensively in their latest outing after playing out a 0-0 home draw with Liverpool.
Despite winning the FA Cup on four occasions since 2013-14, the Gunners have suffered third-round exits in three of the last four seasons. With huge pressure on Arteta to win trophies this season, he is unlikely to make wholesale changes in the FA Cup on Sunday.
