In the best-case scenario, this team would finish the regular season in the No. 7 position, thus skipping the Western Conference Wild Game next week. In the worst-case scenario, FC Dallas would drop out of the playoff zone.

The good news for the boys from Texas is that everything is in their hands. If they win, they will definitely advance to the postseason. If they drew their sixth MLS game in a row, their playoff destiny will depend on the result of another Western Conference game – Sporting Kansas City vs. Minnesota United.

Each of these teams has two points fewer than Dallas, but these teams also have a much worse score differential. That said, one of them would need to beat the other by at least five goals to leapfrog FC Dallas in the Western Conference rankings.
