Match Preview
All eyes will be on the Parc De Princes on Saturday, as the battle for the gold medal in the women’s competition takes place. The focus throughout the tournament has been on the USA, as Emma Hayes targets a major success in her first tournament in control of the national side.
America have been very consistent throughout the tournament to this point, winning all five of their matches. The USA haven’t won the gold medal at the Olympics since 2012, but they did win the bronze medal at the 2020 Games. So far in this year’s tournament, the USA have scored an impressive eleven goals, and they have conceded just twice.
Despite being one of the most famous soccer nations on the planet, Brazil have never previously won the gold medal in the women’s competition. They have finished fourth on three previous occasions, while their best showings came in 2004 and 2008 when winning the silver medal.
Brazil’s chances of reaching this stage of the competition looked very unlikely following the group stage, but their performances have peaked as the tournament has progressed in France. The South American nation caused a major shock in the previous round after claiming a 4-2 win against Spain.
