Match Preview

The competition in Group A at the Olympics continues on Saturday, as France and Guinea collide in the second round of matches in the competition. France were listed as the favorites before the start of the Games, and they secured their position at the top of the betting with a dominant success on matchday one against the USA.

Thierry Henry’s side were dominant from start to finish in that fixture, but their deserved goals in the success weren’t added until the second period. Alexandre Lacazette opened the scoring with half an hour remaining, before Michael Olise and Loic Bade added further goals in the final 20 minutes. A second straight win would secure their progression.

The pressure will likely be on Guinea this weekend, as the African nation will need a victory to keep their hopes of progression alive. They were beaten in their opening match at the Olympics on Wednesday after falling to a late 2-1 defeat against New Zealand. They looked to settle for a draw after levelling the scores in the 72nd minute, before their rivals netted the winner just four minutes later.

Guinea will be the massive outsiders in the betting this weekend, as they look to advance through to the next stage of the Olympics on their debut effort at the Games. Their confidence should be relatively high after winning three of their last four internationals.

France vs Guinea Prediction

France look excellent value to gain a second straight win at the Games this weekend, as they have strong attacking players that Guinea will struggle to keep out. Therefore, we could see the French covering the spread.
