Match Preview
England get their knockout stage underway on Monday, as the Lionesses look to continue their excellent run of form when they take on Nigeria. The reigning European champions finally kickstarted their tournament with a dominant showing on matchday three in Group D, as they recorded a huge 6-1 win over China.
Alessia Russo finally registered her first goal of the tournament in that win, while the standout performer was once again Lauren James. The Chelsea star scored two stunning strikes, and was slightly unfortunate to have not ended the match with a hat-trick. But, the pressure will be on England, as they are now the outright favorites to win the tournament.

Nigeria caused a massive upset to progress through to the round of 16, as they eliminated the reigning Olympic champions in Group B. It is the second straight edition of the World Cup that they have reached the round of 16, and they will be looking to reach the quarterfinals for the second time in their history.
Nigeria’s biggest win at the competition came on matchday two, as they scored a stunning 3-2 win over Australia. The African nation held Canada to a goalless draw on matchday one, while they looked slightly nervy at Lang Park on Monday, as they recorded the draw against Ireland that saw them progress through to the next round.
England vs Nigeria Prediction
England looked better than ever on matchday three at the World Cup, and if they are able to maintain that level of performance, then they will be incredibly difficult to beat. Therefore, we see the Lionesses securing their spot in the quarterfinal with a 3-0 win over Nigeria on Monday.
