One of the most consistent teams in women’s soccer will open their World Cup campaign on Sunday, as Sweden chase a first major honor. Despite often competing in the latter stages, Sweden’s best performance at the World Cup came back in 2003, as they were beaten in the final by Germany. However, the nation has finished third in two of the previous three editions of the tournament.

Sweden comes into the tournament in decent form, as they have registered big wins over China and the Philippines already this year. However, there are clear limitations when it comes to their chances of winning the tournament, as they have suffered big defeats against England and Australia over the last 12 months.
