Event Preview
Regarded as one of the toughest Grand Slams of the season, the women’s French Open gets underway on Sunday, May 28. The champion on the clay will be crowned on June 10, and there is a formidable star at the head of the betting. Iga Swiatek has won two of the previous three editions of the event, landing a second French Open title 12 months ago with a straight sets victory over Coco Gauff. The Pole comes into the event in red-hot form and could be hard to oppose.
Aryna Sabalenka is the second choice in the betting for the event this year. The 25-year-old won a first Grand Slam in Australia at the start of the year, but I have very big reservations surrounding her chances in Paris. She was recently knocked out at the first hurdle at the Italian Open, and she is yet to make it past the third round in this Grand Slam.

Elena Rybakina is a very solid value play for the event in France. She landed a first Grand Slam title at Wimbledon last year, and backed up that showing by reaching the final at the Australian Open earlier this year. She has already proven her quality on the clay by reaching the quarterfinals at the French Open in 2021, while she also recently landed the Italian Open, beating both Swiatek and Jelena Ostapenko.
Jessica Pegula could be a player at a bigger price worth mentioning, as she has reached five Grand Slam quarterfinals since the start of 2021. Meanwhile, Ostapenko and Barbora Krejcikova both have excellent records at the French Open, with the latter landing victory in 2021.
Women’s French Open Prediction
In truth, Swiatek is incredibly challenging to overlook at the French Open. However, a chance will be taken on Rybakina, who continues to show that she is a high-quality player in Grand Slam events. Meanwhile, at a bigger price, we also like Maria Sakkari, as she could offer value after previously reaching the last four in 2021.
