Leading Indian Wells Contenders

The Californian sun will create the idyllic backdrop at the WTA Indian Wells event this year. Mirra Andreeva comes into the event as the reigning champion, but two-time finalist Aryna Sabalenka is likely to be a red-hot favorite to get a first win at the third time of asking.

Sabalenka is the top-ranked player on the WTA Tour, but more Grand Slam misery has already occurred in 2026. For the third time since the start of 2025, the Belarusian lost in a major final after being beaten at the Australian Open. She is a two-time losing finalist at the WTA Indian Wells.

Iga Swiatek is constantly overlooked in the betting on hard surfaces, but the Pole is a two-time winner at Indian Wells. The 24-year-old continued her consistent start to the new season by reaching the quarterfinals at the Qatar Open.

Coco Gauff, Amanda Anisimova, and Jessica Pegula will all rank among the leading American contenders. Jasmine Paolini is still a fast-improving star worth considering, while Canadian teenager Victoria Mboko is already a winner of a WTA 1000 event.

WTA Indian Wells Picks

Elena Rybakina has already started the new season in red-hot form, winning the Australian Open on a hard surface in eye-catching fashion. The 26-year-old followed that up with a deep run in the Qatar Open last month. She is also a previous winner at Indian Wells, beating Sabalenka in the 2023 final.
