However, there are few more daunting prospects than a showdown against Man City, as Enzo Maresca’s side boast a perfect league record in 2026-27. Erling Haaland was rested in the Champions League in midweek, and has scored eight goals in seven appearances this season. Notably, Villa have a quicker turnaround from their UCL outing, as they play on Wednesday. Therefore, City should prove too strong for the hosts, despite the improved form shown by the Villa in recent rounds.

After a long wait, Tottenham could finally celebrate their first league win of the 2026-27 season on Monday, as Spurs landed a 3-1 win against Coventry. Roberto De Zerbi’s side had previously gone six without a win, scoring just three goals. Goals haven’t been an issue for Xabi Alonso’s Chelsea this season, with the Blues netting seven in back-to-back wins against Bournemouth and Everton since a 3-0 loss against Brentford before the international break.
Most pleasing last weekend would have been the fact that they kept a first clean sheet of the season. Chelsea’s dominant home record against Spurs is a key angle worth following this weekend, while the Blues have lost just eight of their 68 Premier League head-to-heads against their London rivals.
