Event Preview

All eyes will be on France over the next two weeks, as the second Grand Slam of the season takes center stage. The French Open is one of the most difficult Grand Slams of the campaign, with the best-of-five sets in the men’s competition being considered the most physically grueling in the world of tennis.

There is a slightly open feel to the event this year, as 14-time King of Clay Rafael Nadal will not be involved. The Spanish star has won five of the previous six editions of the event, with the only exception coming in 2021 after Novak Djokovic won a five-set thriller. Djokovic could feasibly be the value play in the betting this year, as he chases a third French Open success.

However, Carlos Alcaraz heads the betting, as he chases a second Grand Slam success. After winning the US Open late last year, the 20-year-old bypassed the Australian Open to focus on the event in Paris. The Spaniard reached the quarterfinals in the Grand Slam last year, and is a revered player on the clay.

There are certainly bolder bets in the event this year, including Dominic Thiem. The Austrian could be a solid contender if back at his top level, as he previously reached two French Open finals in successive years in 2018 and 2019. Meanwhile, Holger Rune looks to be one of the most exciting tennis stars at present, having reached the final of the Italian Open on the clay earlier this year.

Men’s French Open Prediction

Daniil Medvedev is a solid price for us to be tempted this year. The Russian is getting back to his top level, and has previously reached the quarterfinals at the French Open. He also warmed up for the event by claiming success in the Italian Open, beating Rune in the final. At a price, we could also see last year’s runner-up, Casper Ruud, going close again this year.
