Event Preview

The 17^th edition of the CONCACAF Gold Cup takes place this year, with the United States looking to successfully defend their title. Only three previous nations have landed glory at the prestigious event, with Mexico being the most successful country with eight victories. However, the U.S. have won two of the previous three, and three of the last five editions.

The United States will kick off their tournament against Jamaica in Group A, before coming up against Trinidad and Tobago, and a yet-to-be-determined final opponent. Mexico appears to have a slightly easier group on paper, as they collide with Haiti, Honduras, and Qatar.

Panama surpassed all expectations to reach the last four of the Nations League, and they will come into the Gold Cup as one of the dark horse contenders. However, they will need to overcome a tricky looking Group C, with both Costa Rica and El Salvador vying for places in the top two of the standings.

Canada will kick off their Gold Cup campaign on home soil, before coming up against Guatemala and Cuba. We expect the Canadians to have few issues in reaching the latter stages, but they could face issues when they reach the semi-final stage, as they have a much trickier route to the final.
