Despite not clocking the fastest times at pre-season testing, McLaren caught the eye with their race pace in Bahrain. The reigning Constructors’ champions look a solid chance to kick off the new season with a win, with Lando Norris favored to start his championship bid with a win.
Red Bull were one of the biggest disappointments at pre-season testing, and the former Constructors’ champions look to have a few areas that they will need to improve. Therefore, Max Verstappen is easy to overlook in the betting.
Little separates Ferrari and Mercedes based on what we saw in Bahrain, but bigger positives can be gained from the latter, as they enjoyed their smoothest testing period since the regulation changes.
However, Ferrari showed throughout last season that they have the race pace to compete against the McLaren drivers. Huge pressure will be on the team in this opening round, with Lewis Hamilton taking to the track in a Ferrari in a race environment for the first time.
Australian Grand Prix Picks
Qualifying will offer a first look at every car tuned up to their max this season, but we have high hopes of McLaren making a quick start. Therefore, there could be a winning start for Lando Norris in his pursuit of a first Drivers’ Championship.
