Race Preview

The end of the Formula 1 season is creeping into sight, with just four races remaining in 2024. A big points scoring opportunity arrives this weekend, as a Sprint Race and Grand Prix will be held at the Interlagos Circuit in Sao Paulo.

Drivers will complete 71 laps of the 4.309 km track to make up the 305.879 km race distance. McLaren has been the dominant team in the race’s history with 12 wins, while Max Verstappen has won the Brazilian Grand Prix for a second time in 2023.

The pressure continues to mount on the reigning champion, as he hasn’t won a Grand Prix since round ten in Spain. His advantage at the summit remains healthy, but his mounting issues were evident in Mexico City after receiving a 20-second penalty for a collision with Lando Norris.

The tension between the pair is increasing with every passing week, but Norris will likely need to win both races this weekend if he is to have any hope of ending the season as the world champion. Norris eventually split the Ferraris in Mexico after overtaking Charles Leclerc in the closing stages.

However, the momentum is very much with the Ferrari team, winning for the second weekend running to overtake Red Bull in the Constructors’ standings and moving within 29 points of McLaren at the summit.

Qualifying will be vitally important for Norris, as he looks to record a fourth win of the season. Lewis Hamilton and George Russell were both off the pace for Mercedes in Mexico City, with the upgrades on Hamilton’s car still restricting his race pace.

Brazilian Grand Prix Picks

At this stage, Ferrari appear to have the momentum in the race for the Constructors’ Championship. The dominance that they enjoyed in the U.S. continued in Mexico, and more success could be achieved in Brazil. Therefore, the preference is for Leclerc to record victory, with Norris finishing back in second.
