Race Preview
The Jeff Ruby Steaks is an interesting prep race on the Road to the Kentucky Derby that will be staged at Turfway Park this weekend. This race is run over 1 1/8 miles on the all-weather course, with a purse of $700,000 available to connections. The race produced the winner of the Kentucky Derby in 2022, with Rich Strike finishing behind Tiz The Bomb.
Agate Road holds entries for both Derby preps this weekend for trainer Todd Pletcher, and once again he holds obvious claims here after finishing an excellent second in the G3 Sam F. Davis. Former turf horses have a solid record in this race, which only boosts his chances if lining up at Turfway.

Endlessly appears to be the runner to beat this weekend after impressing when landing the El Camino Real Derby on his previous start with a 101 speed figure. He was also far from disgraced when finishing eighth in a red-hot renewal of the G1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf at Santa Anita in November.
Dancing Groom will be the ride of Frankie Dettori in the race this weekend, and could have strong claims based on his runs in Derby preps to this point. He was fifth in the G3 Holy Bull in February, before following up to finish fifth in the G2 Fountain of Youth Stakes.
Jeff Ruby Steaks Prediction
Endlessly and Dancing Grooms are interesting selections in the Exacta and Trifecta markets this weekend. However, we are happy to make a case for Noted for Todd Pletcher. This runner underperformed on his previous start when seventh in the G3 Kitten’s Joy, but he showed some high class form when landing the Pulpit Stakes and finishing second in the G2 Caste & Key Bourbon Stakes.
