The In-Season Challenge on the NASCAR Cup Series schedule concludes this weekend, with either Ryan Blaney or Todd Gilliland crowned champion. Event Preview
All eyes will be on Indianapolis Speedway this Sunday, as the final race of the In-Season Challenge is staged. The Brickyard 400 will see drivers compete across 400 miles, with a total of 160 laps standing in between the field and their chance of immortality.
There will be increased pressure on Todd Gilliland and Ryan Blaney, as both will have their sights set on winning the second edition of the In-Season Challenge. The former has been a shock performer during the campaign, eliminating higher ranked opponents such as Austin Cindric and Chase Elliott.
Joey Logano should be confident coming into this round after an excellent win in last weekend’s Window World 450. It was a first victory of the season for the driver, eclipsing his previous best showing of a third-place finish in the Dayton 500.
Denny Hamlin’s consistency should be respected this weekend, as the four-time race winner this season has finished in the top three in two of the last three rounds. In contrast, Tyler Reddick’s consistency has evaded him, finishing outside of the top 20 in four of the previous five rounds.
Christopher Bell has finished as the runner-up in two of the last three races, while Chase Elliott has also been consistent during the In-Season Challenge with six top-20 finishes.
Brickyard 400 Picks
A red-hot edition of the Brickyard 400 is set for Sunday. Ty Gibbs certainly looks like a leading contender based on his recent form, having finished in the top five in three of the last four rounds, and inside the top ten in five of the last six. A winner in waiting, and this could be his weekend.
