It has already been a hugely successful week on the field for Newcastle, as their wait for a long awaited piece of silverware could be on the horizon. The Magpies secured an excellent 2-0 win over Arsenal on Wednesday evening to wrap up a dominant 4-0 aggregate scoreline win in the EFL Cup semi-finals. However, Eddie Howe could opt to rest a number of his star players ahead of the trip to the Second City this weekend.
Birmingham City have been dominant in the third tier of English soccer since dropping down from the Championship. The Blues have won 19 of their 27 matches, and they have suffered just two defeats all season. Confidence will be high ahead of this clash after winning four of their last five matches to move four points clear at the summit.

However, Birmingham have a poor record in this fixture after winning just one of their last 15 matches against Newcastle across all competitions. Their only win was recorded in the FA Cup, but it did come back in 2007.
Newcastle have progressed from two of their FA Cup ties against Birmingham, and they are looking to reach the fifth round of the competition in successive seasons for the first time since 2006.
