Match Preview
For the second time this month, West Ham make the journey to the West Midlands to take on Aston Villa. The home side have been consistent since the turn of the year, and they have avoided defeat in each of their last four. That run of form has seen Unai Emery’s side close the gap on the Champions League spots to four points.
The pressure will still be on West Ham when they return to Premier League action this weekend. Graham Potter’s side have suffered three defeats in their last four matches, which includes a poor display when beaten by Crystal Palace at the London Stadium last Saturday. But, the Hammers do hold a comfortable ten-point advantage over the relegation places.

Villa will take confidence from their impressive record in this fixture after winning two of their last three against West Ham. However, that is as many wins as they had recorded in the previous 16 meetings before the start of the 2023-24 season.
The Hammers were well beaten by a 4-1 scoreline in this exact fixture last season. But, the East Midlands side hasn’t lost on successive visits to Villa Park since February 2013. In fact, last season’s defeat ended a five-game unbeaten sequence.
