Chelsea will be looking to quickly put their FA Cup setback at the hands of Brighton behind them when they return to action this weekend. The Blues remain in a strong position in the race for Champions League qualification at this stage, as they sit fourth and are a couple of points clear of Man City.
However, the fact that Brighton recorded a well-deserved 2-1 win when the sides clashed last weekend is hard to ignore. Despite opening the scoring, the Seagulls hit back in excellent style. The defeat also marked the fifth game in seven in which the Blues have opened the scoring but have failed to win.

Brighton’s league record against Chelsea remains poor. The Seagulls have lost each of their last three Premier League matches against the Blues, while they have recorded just one win in their last seven home matches against the Blues.
Chelsea have recorded four wins in their last seven away matches against Brighton. Furthermore, the Blues have scored in 14 of their last 15 Premier League matches against the Seagulls. Still, Brighton have a fine attacking record after scoring in each of their last seven against the Blues.
Chelsea’s away record would be a slight concern ahead of this showdown. The Blues have failed to win in their last four on the road, with their last away victory coming at Tottenham in early December.
