Event Preview

It has been a thrilling season of NASCAR action, and that looks set to continue this weekend with the Cook Out 400. This weekend’s race was first staged back in 1958, and it is one of two races on the schedule that takes place at Richmond Raceway following the Toyota Owners 400.

A total distance of 300 miles is covered in the Cook Out 400, which is made up by a total of 400 laps. The first stage will see drivers complete the first 80 laps, before 155 laps are completed in the second stage. The remaining drivers will then complete the remaining 165 laps in the final stage.

A number of previous winners of the race dominate the betting this weekend, with 2021 winner Martin Truex Jr leading the odds. He currently leads the Drivers’ Championship standings after winning the Crayon 301 and finishing third in the HighPoint.com 400 last weekend. His form could be hard to ignore. Denny Hamlin also holds an excellent chance this weekend after winning back-to-back editions of this race in 2009 and 2010.

Kevin Harvick landed victory 12 months ago, and he could be a leading contender once again this year after finishing fourth in each of the previous two races. Christopher Bell could also play a part this weekend after bouncing back to form at the HighPoint.com 400 last weekend by taking sixth.

Cook Out 400 Predictions

It promises to be an exciting race this weekend, with no shortage of leading contenders. However, we will be siding with Kyle Larson. The driver won the race in 2017 and he comes into this weekend after finishing in the top five in three of the previous five races.
