Preview

Oregon had a phenomenal offensive performance in Week 1, picking up 729 total yards en route to an 81-7 win. While the opposition was FCS Portland State, the Ducks can certainly still feel good about playing at such a high level. QB Bo Nix completed 23 of 27 passes for 287 yards and 3 TDs before being pulled from the game. Oregon also dominated on the ground, rushing for 348 yards and 7 TDs on just 34 team carries.

Texas Tech had an embarrassing loss in Week 1, falling to Wyoming in overtime. They entered the game as 13-point favorites, and quickly jumped out to a 17-0 lead. Unfortunately, the Red Raiders collapsed after that, being outscored 27-3 for almost three full quarters. The loss was a wake up call for a Texas Tech team that is trying to avoid a subpar finish in the newly expanded Big-12. They need to bounce back here.

Prediction

I’m a bit surprised to see the spread so close after the results of Week 1. While it’s true that Texas Tech has the advantage of being at home here, they are also very mismatched. Even without last week, a top-15 team should be favored more against an unranked team, but Oregon’s dominant win in Week 1 with Texas Tech’s bad loss even furthers the point. I see the Ducks blowing the Red Raiders out and winning by 20+.
